Who should attend?
This course is suitable for you if you'd be expected to apply the skills it teaches as part of your clinical duties, or to teach them on a regular basis. You might be a doctor, a nurse working in critical care areas (eg ED, CCU, ICU, HDU, operating theatres, acute medical admissions units) or in the resuscitation/medical emergency team, or a paramedic.
Assessment and certificationThe ALS course is based on clinical simulations that will allow you to demonstrate core competencies such as airway management, initial assessment and resuscitation and cardiac arrest management.
You'll be assessed throughout the two-day course, and there's also a final assessment of candidates at the end which takes the form of management of a cardiac arrest simulation and a multiple choice questionnaire.
Successful candidates receive a Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS Provider certificate, which is valid for four years.
The ALS course is recognised for continuing professional development.
