Learn about the three major welding processes with our four-day Welding course at Writtle College. The introductory course includes demos and hands-on, practical work.

Course Description

Over four days of the Welding course, you'll get experience of welding various joints and material thickness, explore the techniques involved, and learn to recognise defects along with correct finishes. Demonstrations of welding and some associated processes are an integral part of the course. It's an informal Welding course and we welcome anyone who'd like to learn more about welding, from corporate apprentices and hobbyists to those undertaking DIY projects. The instructor/student ratio is 1:8.

Topics covered on the Welding course will include:

• health and safety of welding processes and equipment
• oxy-acetylene welding and cutting (O/A)
• Manual Metal Arc welding (MMA)
• Metal Inert Gas welding (MIG)
• bronze welding, macro-etching.
