Course Description

Having completed this introductory course you'll be able to:

  • develop a client brief
  • review a site survey and site analysis of a project site
  • compile a mood board/concept board for proposed design ideas
  • prepare site functional bubble diagrams based on a client brief
  • develop shape and form as patterns
  • develop a design layout plan
  • present final design proposals in 2D formats.

We ask you to bring your own drawing materials (pencils, pens, scale ruler, flexi-curve, set-squares and an A2 sized drawing portfolio). Advice will be given on specific drawing materials and equipment throughout the course. Drawing paper will be supplied.

Free parking is available on campus in Writtle: we'll issue a permit to you and ask that it's clearly displayed in your vehicle. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available; please bring any other refreshments.

If you'd like to continue your studies at Writtle, consider our ten-week intermediate course, which explores some more advanced principles of garden design.
