Introduction to Human Osteology - November 8-9 2025

Description

This is a 2 day beginner’s course aimed at students, professionals working in archaeology, heritage, or museum sectors, as well as anyone with an interest in learning about human osteology.

Course will provide an introduction to human osteology and will be delivered through a range of lectures and hands-on experience.

No previous experience necessary!

Areas covered will include:

  • Ethical considerations of working with human remains
  • Macrostructure and microstructure of bone
  • The human skeleton – basic anatomy
  • Human verses non-human skeletal remains
  • Estimation of sex
  • Estimation of age at death
  • Adult vs non-adult
  • Estimation of stature

Ear Wax Removal: 2 Day Training Course

Description

This is a 2-day training course designed to provide comprehensive coverage of all aspects of wax removal from theory to hands-on experience. Multiple methods of wax removal will be taught.

Areas covered will include:

  • Core principles on wax removal
  • Knowledge of practice guidelines in compliance with the British Society of Audiology (BSA) Practice Guidance in Aural Care.
  • Different types of equipments to try.
  • Practising correct procedures on dummy heads.
  • 1 to 1 training while removing wax from patients.
  • Follow-on practice under direct supervision until competent.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided for 2 days.
