Chester Zoo field trip

£50.00

Description

Three-day field trip to the UK’s best zoo, Chester. What better way to learn about the evolution of zoo design than to see it yourself. As well as traditional exhibits, Chester has built some of the largest immersive exhibits in Europe e.g. Islands and Heart of Africa. They are the future of zoo design. The trip is compulsory for those taking the Zoos & Zoo Animal Management module. It includes two nights full board accommodation (quad rooms, all meals) at the YHA Trafford Hall, all transport from Cambridge, and two full days at Chester zoo.

Detailed Description

This three-day field trip to Chester zoo will provide you with the opportunity to compare and contrast past, present and future zoo exhibits. By comparing and contrasting the exhibits and observing how visitors and animals interact with them you’ll gain a first-hand understanding of zoo exhibit design. You will then explore this knowledge further when we return to Cambridge. The trip forms the basis for the main coursework assignment where you are asked to demonstrate your understanding of zoo exhibit design by designing an exhibit for your chosen species. The trip provides you with a wealth of examples to draw on from your own experience. The video-based presentation where you explain your exhibit design forms the main coursework task for the module. The exercise is an integral part of the field trip and has been designed to ensure that you get the most out of your time at Chester zoo. That said, you will still have plenty of time to explore each zoo at your own leisure.
