This is the first conference to review the record of the new Labour Government. When it takes place it will be close to the first anniversary of the 2024 General Election. This is a government that has promised change but its tone has proven to be one of caution. Why is this? What it tell us about the challenges of governing in the mid-2020s? We are gathering policy specialists, political scientists, historians and others to examine the government from its handling of the economy and Ukraine crisis through to issues such as immigration, the NHS and gender. The intention is to use the day both to develop the first academic study of the government but also to create a space where issues relating to the government’s progress can be analysed and debated.
