As part of the first year on the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and PE, BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning with Rehabilitation or BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy, you have the opportunity to also complete a Gym Instructor Qualification. This qualification is aimed at students who wish to go on to work in a gym environment in either the health and fitness or performance fields.

FAQs
How/when will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered in Trimester 2. In weeks 1-12, you will have online material and worksheets to work through and submit. In the Easter break you will have 1 full day of contact (Tuesday 15th April 2025) to go through the practical elements of the course. You will then be given assessments to work on before your next contact day (Monday 12th May 2025). Finally, you will have your practical assessment during the week commencing 26th May 2025.
Why is there an extra charge on top of my tuition fees?
As an additional vocational qualification, we need to bring in qualified assessor to ensure you get the best course experience possible. Therefore, this fee goes directly to these professionals. The university does not make a profit from this course. If you were to take this course privately, it could cost you between £400-£600.
How will this course be assessed?
In order to pass this course, you will need to pass the Level 4 modules on your undergraduate sport degree. In addition to this, you will need to take and pass the MOD006514 Gym Instructor.
