Description

As part of the second year on the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and PE, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy or BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning with Rehabilitation, you have the opportunity to also complete a Personal Trainer Qualification. This qualification is aimed at students who wish to go on to work in a gym environment in either the health and fitness or performance fields. To take this course you must already have a gym instructor qualification.

How/when will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered in Trimester 2. In weeks 1-12, you will have online videos and worksheets to work through. In the Easter break you will have 2 full days of contact to go through the practical elements of the course (Thursday 24th and Friday 25th April 2025). You will then be given assessments to work on before your next contact day (Tuesday 13th May 2025). Finally, you will have your practical assessment during the week commencing 26h May 2025.

 

Why is there an extra charge on top of my tuition fees?

As an additional vocational qualification, we need to bring in qualified assessor to ensure you get the best course experience possible. Therefore, this fee goes directly to these professionals and the awarding body. The university does not make a profit from this course. If you were to take this course privately, it could cost you between £1000-1500.

 

How will this course be assessed?

In order to pass this course, you will need to pass the Level 4 modules on your undergraduate sport degree. In addition to this, you will need to take and pass the MOD006516 Personal Trainer. Yes. This course has been endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
